CV Tips

In addition to the standard information like work experience, personal coordinates, language skills, education and training, you want to be sure to include the following information:

Objective statement

  • This should be at beginning of your CV, just below your personal coordinates and should include: What area/department you want to be part of, which role(s) do you want to pursue, which type of company and culture do you want to be a part of?
  • Make sure that your objectives statement is always adapted to the job you are specifically applying for.

Experience

  • Detail the tasks and key responsibilities you manage each day in your current job. How do you spend your time? Use a bullet format for documenting this. It is more important to write about your specific role and contribution rather than the general context of the position. Be sure to include the dates that you worked at each role. Always begin your CV with the most recent experience at the top.

Soft Skills

Soft skills are the competencies you have related to your character. Here is a list of some core competencies that most companies are incorporating into their culture. Which ones do you have? Be sure to include your soft skills or core competencies in your CV that are more unique to you and your professional experience. In your job interview, be prepared to have supporting examples to explain how you have applied these competencies.
